– GREETINGS
FROM ITALY –
2nd
installment | 3rd installment
November 26, 2006 – We are vacationing
in the magnificent Tuscan city of Florence (Firenze), birthplace of the Italian
Renaissance. By modern standards Florence is a small city, but it has retained
its reputation throughout the centuries as one of the leading cultural centers
of Europe. Florence was home to a long list of renowned architects, painters
and sculptors — Giotto, Brunelleschi, Ghiberti, Donatello, Verrochio, Masaccio,
Uccello, Botticelli, DaVinci, Michaelangelo and many others. Their works have
been lovingly preserved in this historic city, a city which is viewed by
many as the world's greatest "living" museum.
I have been shooting since our arrival on Tuesday.
I hope these"walking around" photos, offered in no particular order, give you
a sense of the visual feast that Florence offers first-time visitors like myself.
