– Daneridge's
Penelope Steele, NJP, NAP, NA, CGC, TDI, TT –
October 10,
2005 – This week's DaDane features a formal portrait of Suzzane
Kelleher-Duckett's 9-year-old Penelope. This was a commissioned
piece derived from a photo I took at last year's National. The finished
portrait, which measures 20 x 25 inches, was printed using archival
pigment inks
applied to satin canvas. It was then stretched and framed.
Penelope has
appeared several times on DaDane of DaWeek – and for two reasons.
First, she is quite lovely (the prettiest merle I've ever laid
eyes on); and second, Suzzane loves to
put her in front of a camera. (Or, more accurately, I could say Penelope
loves to find herself in front of a camera – she's a ham.)
You can view Penelope's earlier DaDane appearances here, here,
and here.
Last year Penelope
competed in agility, at the venerable age of 8, and won
High
in Trial
at the
GDCA National in Texas. It was her first time in the Standard
Novice Agility Preferred class, and she earned a perfect score and
ran 21 seconds under time. She gave new meaning to the phrase, "You're
only as old as you feel." Take a look at Penelope's personal Agility
Page, and you'll see what I mean.
As I mentioned last week, this year I'm
not hosting a booth at the Arizona Nationals due to the long travel
distance. Instead,
I'll be watching the
Danes
in
the ring and taking lots of photographs. For those of you who are interested
in commissioning a portrait, I've prepared a brochure in PDF format
that provides information
about pricing, scheduling, etc. You can view it here:

If you'd like some quality photos but you
aren't quite ready for a formal portrait, I'll be happy to photograph
your Dane in or out of the ring. You will find more information about
photo sessions in the brochure linked above. Or, you can visit my Dane
Portrait website at www.greatdaneprints.com.
