— PRAGUE —
May 21, 2007 — Last week we were
in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic and one of the most
beautiful cities in all of Europe. Prague escaped the destructive bombings of
WW2 and survived more than 40 years of Communist domination. An emerging mecca
for tourists, Prague is teeming with ancient churches and synagogues, first rate
museums and galleries, scenic palaces and gardens, endless cafés and restaurants,
along with various shops and boutiques. We were there for four days, not nearly
enough time to see everything, but we did our best.
Yesterday we travelled to Vienna
by rail
— four hours of scenic travel from the Czech countryside to Austria. We'll
be here all week. Unfortunately, my husband will be in meetings so I
am pretty much on my own. Today I will attempt to sort out the metro, which doesn't
look too difficult. Off I go!
