— EMMA —
March 5, 2007 — This
week's DaDane features another of my "fooling around" portraits. It's
based on a photo I shot at the 2006 GDCA National. Three-year-old Emma (BISS
CH Gilham's Run for the Roses) was in the Best of Breed ring, waiting for something
to happen. She was such a pretty girl, and the picture of patience.
"We show dogs
MUST be patient, you know. You humans do things so slowly, especially in the
ring. Your decisions are based on what you SEE, and you take a long time looking.
If you left it all up to us, decisions could be made much more quickly — based
on what we SMELL. Trust me, that's the best way to figure out who's who and what's
what!"
I can't tell you who sent us that comment,
but I can assure you it came from an experienced professional.
