– Happy
Birthday, Merlin! –
December 13, 2004 – Tomorrow
is a big day for Merlin. He turns ten. Merlin is the son of CH Amherst-Harlwood
Bubba Rondo and CH Amherst-Harlwood Gabrielle. We brought him home
to live with us when he was eight weeks old, along with his mantle
littermate, Jabber. We lost Jabber three
years ago, but Merlin is still going strong. I have to admit he does
struggle with arthritis, but thanks to Syn-flex, a
terrific liquid form of glucosamine/chondriotin supplement, he manages
pretty well. He has no other health problems. I don't think
he's been sick a day in his life.
We could not have asked for
a more pleasant dog. Merlin is a sweet, easy-going fella – as gentle
as they come. (He'd rather watch a deer than chase one!) He has been
a wonderful companion, especially when my husband is out of
town, which is often.
The cat is coming back!
That's right. My husband is flying back from Brazil tomorrow, just
in time to help celebrate Merlin's birthday. While Billy's been away,
this mouse has been very busy. I've moved a lot of things around the
house, but more importantly, I hired a painter. He's been working for
over a week to transform certain ho-hum rooms into jewel-colored
"screamers." For instance, one of our halls is now a rich, dark purple.
All the artwork I've hung looks simply phenomenal on it.
I could
not be happier with the changes. I hinted to my husband that he should
be
prepared
for
some surprises, although I was anything but specific. Yesterday he
wrote, "I guess you gave me fair warning about what the mice might
do while
I
was away.
Maybe
I
won't
even notice."
Believe me, Billy, you'll
notice!
