– Study in Black
and White –
December 8,
2003 – The first major snowstorm of the season hit the northeastern
United
States
this past weekend with a mighty wallop. Two to four feet of fresh snow, accompanied
by strong winds and frigid temperatures, hammered most
of
New
England. The deepest reported snowfall – 47 inches – occurred
at Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire. Wow!!!
I was born and raised in Rochester, New York,
but I moved "way down south" 25 years ago. There was a lot of snow each winter
in upstate New York. We seldom get any snow down here in South Carolina. I
always get a little nostalgic when these big storms
blow
in. I
love
to watch
the news coverage – meteorologists making their predictions,
reporters standing out in the cold trying to interview passers-by, people
pushing their cars and shoveling their walks, kids sledding
and
building
snowmen. And I love it when the camera pans to show us an endless white landscape.
How much snow did you get? And how
did your Danes react to to it?
After our serious Addison's Disease discussion of the past three weeks, I think
we
could
all use a little break and have some fun. If you and your Dane experienced
this
record-setting
storm, please take a few moments to log into the comments area below. We'd like
to know
where
you live, how much snow fell, and how your Dane(s) reacted to it.
