– Puppy Pics! –

January 13, 2003 – Last week I had the pleasure of photographing a litter of 5-week-old fawn puppies. The pups – five boys and two girls – were bred by my good friend and neighbor, Cindy Niske. They were born to 3-year-old CH. VZTop Seventh Heaven's Hallelujah (aka Hallie) and sired by 5-year-old CH. Gameplan's You Can Call Me Ray. Congratulations to the proud parents!

This was my first experience photographing young Dane puppies and we all had a rollicking good time. The pups were extremely active when I started shooting. They were scampering around the outdoor deck – it was a balmy 65° that day – exploring everything in sight, including my camera strap, which received its fair share of inquisitive nibbles. After an hour of unbridled exuberance, the babies began to settle down. Only then was I was able to pull off some decent head shots. (These three characters were photographed individually and later composited using Adobe Photoshop.)

Anniversary
Those of you who followed Jabber's TPLO story may be interested to know that the anniversary of his death comes this week, on January 15. Though I prefer not to dwell on the past, I must say that I still miss him more than I ever imagined.
