Here's my shot, dedicated to all Danes who totally ignore our attempts to get them to fetch on command:
Here Boy, get the stick If you wanted it so much Why did you throw it? |
When we first got our Dane, it was an office-wide celebration. My colleagues sent me many dog and Dane links, information, books, toys, etc. but my favorite was a series of dog haikus that I printed and saved. I don't know who the author is, but they always make me laugh.
I lie belly-up In the sunshine, happier than You will ever be. Today I sniffed Many dog behinds -- I celebrate By kissing your face. I sound the alarm! The mail man -- come to kill us all Look! Look! Look! Look! Look! I sound the alarm! Paper boy -- come to kill us all Look! Look! Look! Look! Look! I sound the alarm! Garbage man -- come to kill us all Look! Look! Look! Look! Look! How do I love thee? The ways are as numberless as My hairs on the rug. My human is home! I am so ecstatic I have Made a puddle. I Hate my choke chain Look, world, they strangle me! Ack! Ack! Ack! Ack! Ack! Ack! Sleeping here, my chin On your foot -- no greater bliss -- well, Maybe catching rats Look in my eyes and Deny it. No human could Love you as much as I do. The cat is not all Bad --she fills the litter box With tootsie rolls. Dig under the fence--why? Because it is there. Because it's There. Because it's there. I am your best friend, Now, always, and especially When you are eating. |
Mother-in-law stay
Cold nose in a warm bathroom! I am sneaky Dane. Drink, drink, drink, drink, drink! Fresh cold water in my mouth, Shake away the rest! |

Here are mine: Noble giant, now fast asleep with four feet up- Dignity all gone! And since our puppies just turned one, I've had pups on the brain: Pup - one year ago I could hold you in one hand. Now, you're a giant! Puppy breath so sweet I can sit and watch for hours Future Apollos |
Rats! the line breaks didn't come through right on my haikus, but oh, well.
I wanted to ask, who is the pretty Harl? |
Hi Barb,
That's sweet, goofy SIMON. He belongs to Greg and Mary Lugo. I did a story on him awhile back. <http://www.ginnie.coim/DaDane489.shtml> A big thank you to everyone who is submitting the haiku. It's a riot! Keep 'em coming. Ginnie |

Ha! Lauren, that's great!
the other day my hubby was trimming a tree, and Teddy found one of the small logs and loves to carry it around! He tried to bring it in the house with him and when I told him to drop it he did - and nearly broke my foot! |
