They are also including deceased dogs in this study. You fill in your dog's medical history on the form they send you & you submit a copy of their pedigree with it. I did this for my Klondike who had Addison's for 6 yrs. & died last yr. at age 10. They don't have enough Danes yet. This is well worth doing to help prevent animals from suffering in the future! |
Hector was a gorgeous boy. How wonderful that he touched his adopted people's hearts so completely that they were willing to open their souls again for a new Dane in need. Annie seems like quite a character and she is pretty as can be!!! Great story! |
So sorry to hear about Hector. I remember him. He was so lucky to be adopted by such caring people. And Annie will hopefully fill some of that hole that was left by Hector's passing. I knew from another forum that Annie was looking for a home and so glad she found that special one. |
It was sad to hear about Hector's passing but good to hear that his last months were apparently happy ones. Annie seems to be the type of bitch that she can help overcome some of the sadness by her antics. It is obvious, from the pictures, that she is now At Home & making the best of it for all. |
I'm sorry Will and Nori lost Hector,
but how wonderful they opened their hearts and home to Annie. God Bless them all! |
Thank you so much for telling "Annie's story" Ginnie -once more promoting Addison's awareness within the Dane community! Nori and Will are wonderful Dane parents and Annie is a living example of just how *normal* a properly managed Addisonian SHOULD be!
Catherine and I can't thank you enough for all you've done to promote participation in the UCDavis research studies! As a direct result of your articles on DaDane of the Week, we may finally reach our goal with the number of Danes required to begin compiling the data that will lead to developing a test that will identify carriers of of this disease! We still need additional samples (particularly, but NOT limited to "affected" Danes and their immediate families) but hopefully it won't be much longer before Dr. Oberbauer will be able to begin analyzing the data! For this and ALL you do for our beloved Danes, we thank you! hugs, leans and smoochies from your Addison's poster girl: "Catherine" (celebrating her TENTH birthday next month -almost seven years after her diagnosis with AD!) ~and Bobbie, her grateful momlady! <g> http://CanineAddisonsInfo.com |
Very sorry about Hector, but now gladdened by the good news that they now have another beautiful Dane, Annie. Bet of luck with Annie. She is a sweetheart.
I am also proud of all the work you have done for the AD Dane world, and for Poster Girl, LO Lady Catherine, Bobbie's beautiful black DANE. Thanks, Elizabeth & Miss Katie ((5 yo Blue Dane) |
Ginnie, your vets are truly remarkable people. How fortunate you are, to have them as friends, also.
And, again, thank you for everything you do for our breed!!! Ingrid |
Very happy to read this story. Annie does sound like quite the character and the picture you shared where she looks like she is trying to be a lap dog is priceless. I don't have an AD Dane but do have an AD Weim so we all share our love regardless of breed!
Good luck with Annie .... looks like she is quite at home! |
I am so sorry to hear about Hector. DCM is also a horrible disease. My 3 1/2 year old dane has it and on SEPT 14 it will be a year that he had the disease diagnoised. I am so sorry they had Hector for such a short time. We never get enough time with our beloved danes. I hope they have a long life with Annie. My heart goes out to them. |
Hi Ginne, this is one of those stories that just makes you feel good. Annie isbeautiful, and she is full of love to give her new family. She is home. Thank you! |
I am very sorry to hear about Hector\'s passing. I picked Hector up in Marble Falls, Tx after his owner was unable to care for him due to her old age. I fostered Hector for a few months while Marc found him a permenant home. Hector was one of the sweetest dogs I\'ve ever known and I am truly happy that he spent the last of his days with such a loving family.
