Ginnie, what a wonderful story! I believe it was Bob, but I sure would love to see a short message from him here. Such a shame the toads didn't come out for him that night! Glad to know Bob's a kindred Dane-lovin' spirit. Thanks for sharing your odd experience with us!
Cheers, Anne |
VERY cool story!!
Now, if only.... (Wish you had the chance to meet Mr. Dylan.) |
SHUT UP!! That is too much. My husband and I are fans of Bob Dylan especially his music way back when-his message-still so appropriate now. I love the photo-it would be cool to have my son who is an artist do it in oil.
Wow, Ginnie, you have got to let us know if Bob calls back. BOB if you are out there, please respond! |
Forget Bob - I'm all about his Blue Danes! I'd love to see photos of Elvis and Victoria posted next week :) |
Ginnie,
Too cool! I would like to believe that it was BD. I am especially happy to hear that not only does he own Danes...but he owns BLUES!!! Oh, and BTW, Luca I'm sure would be proud to be pictured with such a star - Thanks! T. |
Ginnie:
In your searching did you notice the name of the record company that kept coming up for his recordings? Yep! Great Dane Records!!! Great picture and story! Thanks for sharing. Ali |
You never disappoint me. I loved your snow storm story, but this one is even better. Hearing about Dylan is great but I was so envious of Toad night. I wish I could have heard them.
Thanks for the up lift. Candice |
No caller ID? That way you could see if it was from a hotel, or something!
That is too strange a story. I believe it was Bob calling for sure!! |
Ginnie, Great story!! I've been a Bob Dylan fan for years. Never knew he had Danes. I love him even more! I also have a blue Dane--Blaze. Would love to see a message from him here. Thanks for the awesome pic!! |
Great story! I knew I liked Bob from way back. All dane people are very special. Toad night is such a facinating event. Last year my brother in Maine tried to send me recordings of "peepers" from his pond about 2 days after your Toad night!! He has "Peeper Night" same deal as your toads...different key. Interesting that such divergent climates have the same phenomenon. |
Happy to hear Bob is tangled up in blues!!Maybe he wanted your toads for back up vocals. The great dylan and great danes both rock!! |
Ginnie, when you have the shirt transfer ready for the Dylan shirts, will you let me know? I REALLY want to wear that piece of art! It is gorgeous! Bob, I hope you show up in the comments! I have found new respect for you! |
I'm not really a Bob Dylan fan (sorry Bob) -- I'm more partial to his son's music (does that count?) -- but I'll give him points and definitely respect if he does indeed own two blues!
|
It was Toad night in Birmingham, Al last night, and Thor and Pluto thought that they should stalk them. Actually, Pluto doesn't have a clue (he's a harl) but Thor (Blue Moon and WYSIWYG) knew that toad's were fun to play with...and I think I heard him humming Bob's song "Ain't A-Gonna Grieve" when he catches a toad..... |
It is my first time to your website!! I always knew there was a reason I liked Dylan. I also have a dane named Merlin and he likes Dylan, too. I completely enjoyed your website and will be back. |
Great story- If it was Dylan, it is highly unlikely that he will post a message on this board- if he did, everyone would have his e-mail address and bombard him. It is quite possible that it was Bob though. |
ah come on bob, we're all DANE lovers here. it's ok to let us know if it was you or not. we PROMISE we won't bombard you with mail.
|
Bob, we love your music from way back and always will, but now that we know you have Danes, wow!!! you are really special. |
I could feel your excitement as you told the story. Too cool. And Ibelieve it was Bob too.
I think he missed out on more than listening to the toads. Heck, you could've taken a picture of him with the toads. *g* |

Would love to see pics of Bob's danes. I wonder how you keep Danes if you're out on the road all the time?? Doesn't seem like a tour bus would work, but if you're a dane lover you can't be away from them all the time either....? |
Great picture, as always! Bob could always snailmail you with no return address...I believe it was him - life IS stranger then fiction! |
Ginnie,
Two of my idols speaking together in one phone call. Of course it would be a night train that blurred the synchronicity. I haven't spoken to Bobby since never. |
Hi Ginnie,
I'm sure you'll be getting lots of mails from Bobcats (Bobdogs ?) like myself after your wonderful story has been posted on expectingrain.com. Bob's dog affairs have been recorded for a while now, among other places in a list called "Dogs Bob Dylan Seems To Have Abandoned" in a book called "All Across The Telegraph" (Futura Books, 1988), where the NB reads: "Dylan's current dogs are two Great Danes called Brutus and Baby...". As that was a while ago, the Elvis /Victoria angle might well be what's on these days in Bob's world of Great Danes. By the way, you can even hear one of his dogs bark along with him on a record ("Every Grain Of Sand", in the version of the Bootleg Series), though it's a high pitch bark that doesn't sound like what I would imagine coming out of a Great Big Dane... Anyway, I really loved your story. Thanks , and best of luck for you and your guys. Helmut (Berlin / Germany) |
