May 5, 2001 – With gardening season upon us, I hope you enjoy this little piece. It was inspired by something sent to me by Debra Rahl from the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League. (Thanks, Debby!) The rescue league is made up of a very dedicated group of people. I encourage you to visit the MAGDRL web site. They currently have sixty Great Danes needing homes. MAGDRL places Great Danes in eight states: Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, as well as parts of New Jersey and New York.

Jabber Update: Things are looking very good right now. Four days of professional physical therapy did wonders for Jabber last week. He took his very first steps using his "bad" leg. It's the first time he has been able to use it since the surgery three months ago. He still needs a lot of assistance in getting around, but he is able to do some of the work now, instead of totally relying on the sling for support. We are very encouraged by his progress.
