The New Year couldn't have been any newer when it walloped the United States with a huge blizzard. A blanket of heavy snow and dangerous ice fell from the Midwest to the Northeast, accompanied by strong winds and wicked wind chills. With weather this severe, many Great Danes stick their nose out the back door, appraise the situation, and refuse to set foot outside to do their business. In frustration, their owners eventually grab a shovel and clear out a "potty path." Even then, it usually takes some additional coaxing and creative bribery to entice reluctant Danes to go outdoors and drop their pants. In extreme cases, their owners are forced to build them a snowman. This usually does the trick. Even the most stubborn Danes find it hard to resist whizzing on a snowman. Once the skies clear and the wind stops howling, most Great Danes are more than happy to venture outside and play in the freshly fallen snow. Petunia is an 8-week-old Great Dane. She's a little confused by all the white stuff, but she likes how it looks and feels.
