She was exquisite. Not gone....just gone ahead...and probably having a ball playing with my boys who went ahead, too :)

My sympathy goes out to you and your family. You will never forget such a wonderful part of your life, and I hope time will ease your pain. We lost our 10yr old Dane at Christmas, so I can relate to your sadness.

Thank you Ginnie and to all who took the time to read this. The hardest part is knowing when its time to call it. The talk I had with JP (who is wonderfull) helped. She said " Al it's time when it hurts you more than it hurt them ". We miss our Fanny and I'm in tears.

Our condolences to all involved. Al, in time the wonderful memories will tend to lessen some of the sadness. You will find that there is comfort in those memories but sadness will remain for a long time. You will find that this page, in time, will give you more pleasure than pain. The best to you & yours.

Ginnie, What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful dog. I have to think that Osteo is one of the most incideous of diseases, I'm sorry the Arsenault family and dear Fanny had to endure it. At least, though, you know when you have made the decision to let them go that you are releasing them from such a cruel disease.

I just lost my beautiful Krueger to Osteosarcoma on June 16. He was only 8 and just a wonderful guy. It was such a hard decision to let him go, but the best I could give him. My sympathies to Fanny's family.

I have worked with Great Dane Rescue for quite a while. The heartbreak of having a much loved member of the family diagnosed with this terrible cancer is so very hard. I am currently fostering a Mantle Dane named Theo who was suspected of having Osteosarcoma. We have been blessed with the news that he most likely does not have it. We are awaiting further testing. My heart goes out to you and your family. Fanny is now in heaven with so many of our loved Danes.

Al, Judi,

My heart goes out to you both and to JP. You don't get a CDX without a lot of time, patience, understanding, devotion, and of course, love. Those add up to a lifetime of memories which you will always cherish. Take comfort in knowing that because of you both, Fanny realized her incredible potential. Not many people can make that claim.

Al/Judi:

My most sincerest condolences on the loss of Fanny. We still hurt from our loss of Duchess in 1985. She was our "little girl," and we'll never forget her, as I'm sure you'll never forget Fanny.

In this time of sorrow, remember the good times that you had with her, and the joy and therapy that she brought people.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I lost my black dane, Apollo in 1982 and I still feel the loss. I now have Max, a male fawn, approaching 9 yrs. and it scares me. Just remember all the good times you had. They do leave paw prints in our hearts that we never forget.

Al, Judi and kids,
So very sorry to hear about Fanny. I met her once at your house and instantly knew how special she was and how very much you loved her. She loves you for releasing her from the pain and for every single minute of time and devotion you showered on her. I believe that in time, we all meet up again ... and she's probably playing fetch with Pepere and Memere right now! Our thoughts are with you,
"Aunt" Joanne

Judi, Al and JP!

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of this lovely girl!
There are no words that will help your pain -and time will only soften the edges - but I hope you'll remember and focus more on the good times rather than the end of her days - and remember how much pleasure she brought to everyone that admired her beauty and her "work."

Sincerely,
Bobbie, Catherine and Arnold

What a beautiful little girl. We ahve a 5 year old male Merle who's the center of our lives, so I truly understand your grief and pain. They are very special "babies", and leave such an imprint on our hearts.
I've been reading about Ms. Fanny, and she was such a wonderful dog with such a legacy, you should be very proud of her; and I'm sure you are. I've seen your other Danes, and know that they are all special, but no one will ever take Ms. Fanny's place. She was, and still is a very special little girl.
