Is this a harl trait? I had flashbacks to X-mas a few years ago when I, as a nice mommy, got my two girls (a harl and black) those nice orthopedic covered pads for their crates. Then we left for a few hours to go visiting. Well when we came back, it looked just like this picture, there was foam everywhere! They both decided to totally shred them to obilivian. It looked like it had snowed!

My first Great Dane(Shasta) was a blue merle and she decided that my queen size mattress and box springs needed replaced. I came home for work to discover she had torn both up into fluffy pieces all over my bedroom. She made life very interesting.

Nelson started my week off with a good laugh and fond memories. When she was a puppy our black female, Minnie, destroyed two matching couches. We were able to salvage enough material to make one couch out of the two. Now that couch is hers and I have a new one. Dane puppys are great if you want to redecorate.

Great photo! Brings back memories. Moses ate his way through a brand new couch and love seat as a puppy. The things we learn! The brand new doggie bed that looked so great in the magazine and cost $100-was gone in two days! He also liked to "sneak" things off the kitchen counter, like a whole chicken and a fresh loaf of bread and steal my potholders and bury them in the garden. Imagine what the neighbors thought when this crazy woman "me" was chasing a dog with a cooked chicken in his mouth around the back yard screaming "LEAVE IT!"

I couldn't believe it. I thought I was the only one who had dogs who ate the living room furniture! My 2 Blue Girls ate the whole living room set, Sofa, Loveseat, and Chair when they were around 10 months old. My son's Harlequin also ate at couch when she was about 10 months old. I didn't get too upset, after all, it's their furniture, too!! There is no other furniture big enough for them. They don't eat it anymore, it must have been a puppy phase. They are the best behaved and smartest dogs I have ever had, once we got over the chewed up furniture.

Try 4 puppies at once and your bedroom and living room get redone. Three couches, two futons, three papsan cushions, one chair and one waterbed later we are finally getting over the chewing stage at 17 months, yippee!

My darling Teddy, a merle and white dane, "saved" our family from two ferocious couches--new of course--he was so proud--wish I had taken pictures!

our blue dog (zak) discovered a tube of mints down the back of the sofa, but as they were just out of reach he had to dig a little to reach them. Goodbye couch!! With 3 dane's in the house we also lost two doors, the legs off my suit, countless records etc. Now we have no danes' but a company that makes sofas - and guess what it is called - dane!!
